At the start of the new Girl Scout year on October 1st, 2016 we were way understaffed for Volunteers!
It was just my Co-Leader and I for almost 40 girls, that just wasn't going work anymore. So we sat down and came up with a list of positions that we could use to help the troop run better without all the stress being on us alone. Here is what we came up with:
So instead of doing a normal meeting for our first meeting, we changed it up so we could have a parent meeting too! We did an Investiture/Re-dedication awards ceremony and then we took the girls separate to do an activity while we could meet with all the new parents!
We explained to the parents all the things that needs to get done during the year and listed everything out. We then told them that normally if was just the two of us that did everything for the troop but since we have such a large troop this year, its just not realistic anymore. So we asked for help, normally in the past we wouldn't have gotten much response, but this time we did! We had every position filled except for 1-2. We then planned to have a new leader & assistant leader meeting the following week to go over all the information for the meetings!
After we had our leader meeting our two co-leaders for the Juniors decided to step down, which is fine. It's better that they realized that they weren't ready before the meetings started so we could still try to find a leader!
We had two sisters join who were going to be Juniors, I asked their mom if she would mind being a leader. She said yes and then our leader team was complete!
